A Carlops Community Garden Group was formed early in 2022 to develop part of the Rock Field into a community garden. The Rock Field is owned by Gerda Stevenson & Aonghas MacNeacail and is situated by the carpark at the south end of Carlops. The group consists of volunteers from the community and has been formed to take these ideas forward.

The vision for the garden is to become a place for members of Carlops and the surrounding communities to share the growing of produce, learn, exercise and socialise with one another. An orchard and apiary are already underway, but to ensure all local residents could provide input to shape the nature and range of features, the Group commissioned 56 Degree Insight to undertake a survey of local residents to garner their views and opinions.

The survey was hosted online in early May 2022, and was promoted via local social media channels, email and posters located at the bus stops and at the village hall.  It was also communicated more widely to surrounding communities in Ninemileburn, Silverburn and West Linton.
